Just like you change your style of clothing when the weather changes, your hair and makeup also need to go well with the weather.
For example, rain during monsoon season is something we have no control over, but it doesn’t mean we can’t totally avoid its tragic effects on the hair. When it rains, your makeup goal is to make sure it stays on for the entire day, and in this post we’ll talk about how to do just that.
So what are the beauty mistakes to avoid during rainy season? Keep reading!
Smudged kohl / black eyeliner is a great look, however the humidity in the air is at its all-time high during the monsoons. Unless you want to look like a panda at the end of the day, please stay away from black kohl. Use a waterproof liquid liner instead, or just don’t use it at all during the rainy season.
Bangs are cute and fun and all, but they’re super annoying during the monsoons. Bangs usually cover up almost half of the face, and just sticks everywhere in bad weather. Bangs also don’t allowing your skin to breathe freely which causes sweat to accumulate. You hair will not just look flat and greasy, but you can also get pimples from the fringe.
In humid weather, a liquid foundation will usually just melt off your face, especially when it’s layers and layers that you’ve caked on your face. You don’t want to look like a splotchy mess. Instead, use a BB cream or perhaps an oil-free cake or cushion foundation during the monsoons for an even, and preferably matte base.
This is a mortal sin during rainy season. When there is risk of water pouring down your face, any product that’s not waterproof is a big mistake. Non-waterproof mascaras are sure to run down your face and streak during the humid and wet weather. Avoid non-waterproof makeup at all costs if you can to keep your face perfect even on a not-so-perfect rainy day.
Glitter eyeshadow may look fabulous but it’s also a terrible idea during the monsoons. The humidity in the air can make the glitters clump up together and look patchy. There’s also the chance that if it rains, you’ll just get streams of glitter down your cheeks. It may also enter your eyes, which can cause irritation. So, stay away from glitter eyeshadows until the rain goes away.
Just like liquid foundation, a creamy concealer may just melt off your face if it’s combined with the moisture in the air and the sweat-inducing humid weather. You may look fine before stepping out of the house, but in the rainy season, by midday you’ll look like a hot mess already, bearing all your skin imperfections for all the world to see. Find a crayon concealer instead – it’s a good alternative for a flawless base.
Put the flat hair iron down. Humidity causes hair to get greasy, frizzy, and just unmanageable. If you’re planning to get your hair straightened, avoid the hair straightening treatments and tools. You hair may look sleek and shiny at first, but in a few hours to a few days, you’ll start to see the unfortunate tragedy that is your hair. So instead of wasting money on a professional straightening treatment, what you need to do is pamper your hair with nourishing products, and love your natural hair.
