Some of us are just born with excessively oily hair. And it’s annoying.
Even after washing thoroughly and styling your hair well in the morning, does your scalp look oily even before the day ends? Even after investing in bottles of dry shampoo and baby powder, does the horror of excessively oily hair bother you? Well, there is hope for everyone, and you don’t need to let those oily tresses keep you from achieving fabulous hair. If you want to know about some ways you can treat oily hair naturally, keep reading!
Apple cider vinegar (ACV)
As ACV is an acidic acid, it can help detoxify the scalp, which somehow controls the production of oil. It also helps in unclogging hair follicles and prevents excessive hair loss which will leave you with soft and shiny hair. To use as a hair rinser after you shampoo, mix two tablespoons of ACV in a cup of warm water. Shampoo your hair as you would normally do, and then pour this mixture from root to tip all over your hair. Massage the solution in your hair gently for a few minutes and wash it off later with water. For best results, do this twice a week.
Another method to tackle excessive hair oiliness is with baking soda. Baking soda helps control the production of oil and absorbs the excess. But make sure you that you use baking soda in diluted form! Mix two to three tablespoons of baking soda in one liter of water. Wet your hair using this mixture and leave for 20 to 30 minutes and then follow with your normal shampoo. Do this thrice a week.
Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera is a no-brainer when it comes to beauty. The vitamins and minerals in aloe vera help detoxify the scalp which help get rid of impurities. Aloe vera also helps regulate oil secretion, while moisturizing and nourishing your hair roots. Mix one teaspoon of fresh aloe vera gel with a few drops of lemon juice and apply generously all over your scalp. Leave the solution on for at least 10 to 15 minutes before washing it all off with your regular shampoo. If you don’t have time however and want a quick fix for your hair using aloe vera, mix one teaspoon of aloe vera gel with your shampoo and wash your hair as you normally would. This will not only help clean but also moisturize your hair at the same time.
This yummy breakfast is not only good for the body but for applying on the hair, too. Its thick consistency helps absorb oil and other impurities from the scalp. It also provides immediate relief from dandruff or itchiness because of its soothing properties. To use oatmeal as a treatment, make a thick oatmeal paste with water and apply all over your scalp and hair. After 15 to 20 minutes, wash it all off with cold water. For best results, do this twice a week.
