Don’t feel like wearing foundation today? You may want to use BB or CC cream instead.
But what’s the difference between the two, really?
If you like the foundation looks on your skin with some degree of coverage, but not the heavy feel, CC creams and BB creams are for you!
Simply put, BB and CC products are make-up and moisturizer in one. They have pigment to even out skin tone and provide a little bit of coverage, but are sheer enough to feel and look natural.
Did you know that BB and CC creams have been around for about 50 years? It is only in the last five years that these products have become popular and widely used by women all over the world.
What is a BB cream?
BB cream is just for “beauty balm” or “blemish balm”. These tinted moisturizers are packed with skin-perfecting agents that claim to refresh, brighten, smooth, hydrate, and even out tone for a radiant look. They also usually contain sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays.
BB creams have only become widely used in South Korea in the 80’s but were actually created in Germany in the 60’s to help patients recovering from surgery and laser treatments. Bizarre, I know! Well, the trend eventually caught on in beauty world in the East and into the beauty bags of women in the West around 2011. The BB cream became so in demand and easily considered as a make-up bag must-have.
If you want best results, use a BB Cream that has Niacinamide, glycerine, and an SPF of at least 30. Glycerine promotes hydration on the skin by pulling moisture from the air. Niacinamide helps lift away dead skin cells for a fresh, and more even complexion. SPF, of course, protects the skin from damage caused by UV rays.
What is a CC cream?
CC cream means “complexion corrector” or “color corrector”. These creams have more coverage than a BB cream and has anti-ageing benefits too. A CC cream will more effectively hide unsightly redness and darker uneven areas on the skin much better than a BB cream.
Find a CC cream with Vitamins B and E and Niacinamide to help bring back your skin’s youthful glow. Niacinamide helps exfoliate dead skin cells to reduce the look of wrinkles, while vitamins B and E help boost the skin’s natural defense against moisture loss. A CC cream with SPF 30 will also help protect against damage from UV rays.
How do you use BB and CC creams?
I’m happy to report that it’s not rocket science. Using a BB or CC cream is simple. Just apply and blend evenly with your fingertips or a make-up sponge for natural, sheer coverage, just like you do with foundation. You can wear it alone as a daily moisturizer, with or without a primer, or layer it under your favorite foundation for natural-looking, beautiful skin.
